What do you get when you combine indie artwork, ragdoll physics, and cleverly placed humor in an open-world setting? Totally Reliable Delivery Service is the latest from Tinybuild that lets you discover what happens when you mix these elements. It's okay for solo players, but the real charm of this title happens if you can find a friend or three for some online or couch co-op!
Totally Reliable Delivery Service takes place in a vast city. There are buildings, beings, and businesses galore-- all waiting for packages. It's up to you, the squishy, flexible, totally reliable delivery person, to get these good citizens their packages on time!
At its core, the game is a blend of open-world exploration and light quest completion.
There are also some collect-a-thon aspects through character customization and upgrades. Don't expect this game to feel super meaty at the end of the day, though. It's a light-hearted, 4/5 concept that is the most fun when you can experience it with others.
Trying to waddle, wallop, or whip your character around at first is pretty frustrating. The controls take a fair amount of time to grasp.
Additionally, clipping issues with the graphics don't help this problem. Things like forklifts and helicopters glitch into the ground and affect gameplay at times, which certainly doesn't seem like an intentional goofy aspect.
The audio is relatively flat and struggles with an even tone. Explosions, beating up packages, and other "action" noises are much louder, sometimes so much that they become garbled blaring sounds instead of having any definition. There didn't seem to be any individual FX noise settings to adjust this at the time, either.
All in all, Totally Reliable Delivery Service isn't very reliable in this department, earning an average 3/5 for leaving its unpolished basics on display.
Quests come in the form of package deliveries in Totally Reliable Delivery Service. Pick from several chubby beanbag-style delivery workers and customize outfits, skins, and even body type. You control your character's arms individually, so accomplishing anything takes some planning and effort.
Pick up packages and deliver them. There are tons of nooks and crannies to explore along your delivery route. Sometimes there will be special circumstances to complete on quests, such as timed events or unexpected roadblocks. Playing with others creates challenges in unexpected ways, like deciding who should take the package or drive. Get ready for plenty of consignment catfighting!
Tinybuild has created a super fun and charming city with secrets best discovered by wildly flying a helicopter too close to the road or crashing into the sports stadium. The gameplay shines through as the most fun thing about Totally Reliable Delivery Service.
It earns 5/5 for the hilarious moments spent exploring the city.
Totally Reliable Delivery Service isn't going to win any Game of the Year awards. However, it's a fun way to spend some afternoons. Run around the city, picking up packages, and getting them to their proper owners. Use tons of equipment from moving van to forklifts.
Discover all the vehicles, secrets, and character customizations alone or with friends!
Totally Reliable Delivery Service is a hilarious indie title where you attempt to deliver packages while up against dogs, drivers-- oh, and deranged ragdoll physics!
