Smarter simulations in The Sims 4. The Sims 4 is the fourth release of the popular life simulation video game.
Numerous life simulation games have been released before The Sims. This fourth version is similar to the initial three releases, but with a few exciting changes. Game players build a simulated life character.
By employing different personality traits, players face different life encounters as the game unfolds. Each personality choice changes the way the game materializes. There are also little mini moods called moodlets, which change the way The Sims 4 video game plays out.
The concept is very similar to previous life simulation games. Still, there are enough original plot twists, each resulting from different personality choices.
Some players believe that The Sims 3 offers better gameplay, but collectively the graphics of The Sims 4 is better than any of the three previous releases. Shadows and lighting changes are one visible improvement that was made. The Sims 4 uses cast shadows and vibrant lighting to enhance the graphics experience.
a truly realistic feel to the simulated world
Another critical difference was the size of the character’s heads. This makes for a truly realistic feel to the simulated world that the players create. The visual clarity of the different environments, especially the coastal neighborhood Brindleton Bay, is masterful. Each version had a dedicated theme song. The Sims 4 has one as well, and the tune is artfully catchy.
Throughout gameplay, various audio sounds are perfectly matched with character and situation. The Sims 4 version may be the best graphically; therefore, it scores 4 out of 5 stars for graphics and audio.
As in other life simulation games, players begin by creating their unique character. In The Sims 4, it is called a Sim. Players use a variety of personality characteristics, and the game unfolds based on how these are blended into the character’s overall persona. Moodlets can affect how a portion of the game plays out, as well. These are like real-life mood swings.
Gameplay in The Sims 4 has thousands of twists and outcomes, so playing the game repeatedly never gets boring.
The personality of the character is what causes different situations to happen in the game. For instance, in the Legacy Challenge, a character strives to make his family last through a full ten generations. Players can choose from more than three-dozen hairstyles, with 18 different colors. Characters have three inherent personality traits that modify gameplay, plus one aspiration that contains a hidden trait.
Players will also select a body type and ethnicity for their character. Players will guide their characters through a variety of life situations, making choices that affect the outcome of the game as they go. There are various worlds and environments, each with unique encounters.
Many early reviews were jaded by the fact that EA did not make available any demo versions before the September release. While there was as much criticism for The Sims 4 as there was acclaim, it earned top honors for video game sales in 2014 and 2015.
There is an exciting aspect of The Sims 4 that parents find appealing. This version adds a clear objective of teaching fiscal responsibility. Fiscal responsibility isn’t something video games seem to give much consideration to, but when parents see this as a benefit, it helps with game popularity.
Violence is also kept at a minimum. Characters will die off by some method, but the level of violence isn’t anything akin to more violent life simulation video games. The Sims 4 is funny and entertaining, with a level of educational value as well.
As life simulation games go, The Sims 4 has enough unique personality options and game twists to make it an excellent addition in the series.
