Stick Fight: The Game is a multiplayer romp in which up to four people can play as stick figures, using their fists, weapons, and the environment to smash their opponent off the screen.

Stick Fight: The Game

Obliterate to win!

As the name implies, Stick Fight features you as a stick figure. This is a multiplayer game that features dozens of different backgrounds, stages, obstacles, weapons, and other randomization.

Your goal is to use every tool at your disposal to obliterate your opponents, who can be your friends or online players. The game is about more than just punching the bad guys: Since you have to use your environment, the game adds a degree of humor to this game that is so often missing from other fighters.

Simple and sharp graphics

The graphics are simple and sharp. They are supposed to be simple, after all, as the game features literal stick-fighters. However, simple shouldn't be confused for bad or lazy. The movement of the stick figures is extremely fluid, and the figures bend, twist, and break in a way in which their "simple" nature suggests they shouldn't.

bright, shiny, and engaging

Furthermore, the graphics (including the background, lighting, and obstacles) enhance the game and its overall feel. They are bright, shiny, and engaging. The gameplay is also very smooth, and as soon as one stage ends, another begins, allowing for an easy experience that is a blast to play.

LIke Smash Brothers, but better

The gameplay will be familiar to any Smash Brothers player: Fun and easy to start, but challenging to master. When you first pick up the controller, you will inevitably just smash the buttons. However, the longer you play, the more you will understand the strategy behind the game.

More to the point, you'll become more comfortable with the physics of the game, which involves a good chunk of randomization and a lot of floating. In that sense, the game does a great job of injecting just enough randomization to keep you on your toes.

The game does a great job of injecting just enough randomization to keep you on your toes.

However, this game isn't exactly the most user-friendly for beginners. There is no health bar, and you're never quite sure what weapon is a one-hit kill versus the weapons, which will require at least a few shots. Yes, this adds a degree of surprise to the game, but it can also be frustrating (and at times unfair), particularly if you are playing against a friend who has more experience than you!

It is playing against friends, which is the most fun aspect of this game. Every stage is wildly different than the next: In one stage, you may be trying to avoid a massive log that threatens to crush you into oblivion, while in the following, you're trying to fire the infamous snake-gun to murder your buddy. If you don't have anyone physically near you, there are online options. Thankfully, these options are robust, with few technical problems and plenty of other players to play against.

A hilarious and never boring multiplayer

Stick Fight is available on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, and Mac. It is downloadable on Steam for $4.99.

Thankfully, given the game's multiplay and online options, there is quite a bit of opportunity to play this game for hours before stages and weapons truly start to get repetitive. However, it's lack of a robust single-player option (there is no campaign) does mean that the game's replayability is limited by the state of your social life.

TL/DR

A smooth, hilarious, and random fighting game where you play as a stick figure and pummel your friends.
