There's no denying what influences are behind this game. Ratty Catty feels like someone wanted to make a Tom and Jerry game but remembered at the last moment that they did not have the license for that particular IP.

Ratty Catty

If you strip that away, you have a pretty basic asymmetrical multiplayer game that focuses more on hijinks than strategy. Still, even that tends to come back to the original cartoon source. While it doesn't manage to pull off the concept incredibly well, hewing closer to the roots of the cartoon is really one of the only things that this game does right.

Atrocious graphics

There's no way around saying this - the graphics in this game are atrocious. The visuals are worse than what you would expect from an older mobile game, but they're somehow still going to draw heavily on your PC's video card. This game is unpleasant to look at all around. You have to wonder what went wrong when the art style was being developed.

This game is unpleasant to look at all around.

As for the sounds, well, they're certainly present. They aren't good or bad; they are just side dishes to the atrocious main course that is the game's visual presentation. The music here would have to be amazing to overcome the visual problems, but the music doesn't reach that point. Simply put, this is a game that looks so bad that you really won't care about the sound.

Best with friends

Do you like games that work? If so, you probably won't like what you find here in terms of gameplay. It's not that the gameplay is bad, per se, but rather that it just never quite manages to be what it is supposed to be. If you are playing with the AI, it's just a roll of the dice to see what's going to happen. If you are playing with friends, though, you might accidentally have a little bit of fun when all the stars align.

There's nothing here to redeem the game, but the working version of the game does at least provide a few minutes' worths of entertainment. It's a shame you can't find public matches or really do anything but play with people you already know, though, as some of that accidental fun might occur in a way that could bring a bit of joy to more players.

A broken, sad excuse

Ratty Catty is not a good game. It's not even a bad game - it's just a broken, sad excuse for an entertainment product that's better off avoided. This game would be very hard to recommend even if it was free, but the fact that it costs real money makes it impossible to recommend. Try this game out at your own peril, and try to remember that it's much harder to get a refund for a digital product than you might think.

TL/DR

Ratty Catty is a buggy, ugly cat-and-mouse game that doesn't even live up to its limited hype.
