It's been seven years since the launch of the last generation systems. Playstation 4 and Xbox One are both the best-selling consoles of any generation that Sony and Microsoft have ever released. The upcoming systems, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X have reignited the old debate: which is better? Playstation 5

Sony finally revealed the Playstation 5 hardware design and exclusive launch titles at their much anticipated Summer Game Fest event, "The Future of Gaming".

Backwards compatibility is finally back with the PS5. Expect over 4,000 titles from the PS4 to be compatible at launch on the newest Sony console. Any titles currently being developed for PS4 are very likely going to be released on both consoles as well. Ghost of Tsushima and Last of Us 2 will certainly be available on PS5 when they release. Additionally, Sony has great first-party titles that every fan can look forward to.

-- How much will it cost? Rumors and leaks suggest a $499 price tag, though anything is possible. At one point, websites had placeholders as high as $999. Don't worry about that too much, though. In reality, big numbers aren't very reasonable (or expected) based on the last generations' launching price points.

-- When is the release date? Rumors have leaked recently that the console could be released on November 20, 2020. Just in time for the Black Friday madness!

It's hard to say when, exactly, we'll get the answers to these questions. There are a lot of factors at play already in 2020. Either way, hopefully, we get these juicy details (and a peek at the PS5) before launch!

Xbox Series X

Meanwhile, Microsoft has filled our gamer cups with details about the Xbox Series X There's a tidbit for everyone, from its sleek new vertical design (don't worry, you can still play it perfectly fine on its side!) to the handful of first-party launch titles already announced. It certainly seems that Microsoft has a bit of a hardware edge with the Series X. It's got slightly more powerful CPU and GPU power this generation. Additionally, Microsoft has promised that every game released can run on 4K. Play any Xbox Series X game in stunning visual quality on your TV, something normally only high-end PCs can do.

Of course, those aren't the only features that matter. Microsoft has no plans for a VR system as of June 2020. If you're a VR fan, you may want to stick with Sony, a company that's invested considerable time and effort into that department.

However, Microsoft already has announced a solid set of exclusive launch titles for the Series X. They also plan to make any Xbox Series X titles available on the One and PC. Furthermore, we've seen this console. Its sleek black tower matches the updated Xbox Wireless controllers, which finally come equipped with a Share button.

Not interested in spending a fortune on controllers? Your current Xbox One controller will work with your Series X! It's particularly notable, as it's the first time in a console's life that accessories will be forward compatible.

All in all, it seems Microsoft is committed to unprecedented accessibility with the Xbox Series X.
