Major Details Revealed About Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 3

One of the great things about Fortnite is that it keeps changing. New seasons usually bring in at least one or two new things, with some of the biggest changes radically altering the map or the way that the game is played. Season 3 is going to be here shortly and the leaked materials suggest that it could bring about one of the biggest changes to the game yet.

A Season of Delays

While a lot of what's being discussed right now basically amounts to a series of well-founded rumors, one thing's definitely for sure - Season 3 has been significantly delayed. Originally scheduled to land at the beginning of May, the new season has actually been pushed back twice. The first alternate date was scheduled for June 4th, but now it's been pushed back again until June 11th. While the first push seems to be related to current global events, it's not quite clear exactly why the changeover was pushed back by another week.

The Device

If you've been playing Season 2, you've probably noticed a countdown clock on the Ready screen. This clock is inching towards its end date on June 6th, at which time players should expect something major to happen. Most of the leaks thus far have suggested that the Device is going to end up being some kind of Doomsday Device, which will in turn have a major impact on what the map's going to look like next season.

A Water World?

There have been a few credible leaks so far about next season, and all of them point towards one thing: water. There have been images of the Bus floating above a water-covered world, one that prominently features the same island seen in the short "Desert Island Flare". Coupled with these images have been some fairly credible sources pointing at Epic's development of new and improved underwater swimming animations - something that also points towards the next update having at least something to do with water.

There are also some credible clues that are already in the game that point towards the next expansion having something to do with water. Some players have started to find puddles all over the world, which seems in line with how previous season changes have started out with small graphical hints. There's also the fact that Chapter 2 itself has also been fairly water-heavy since the start - the boats, the fishing rods, and the water animations are all clues that Epic has something planned for the future.

Building on Other Changes

Along with the definitively-leaked materials, there are also some big assumptions that players can make about the next season. Bringing in things like the agency bases has added some interesting wrinkles into the tactics of Fortnite this season, as has the addition of the secondary goals connected to the Deadpool skins. It really does look like Epic is willing to shake up the way that its game works in order to keep players interested.
